Mini Apple Pies

These delicious, single-serving sized apple pies are beautiful in their simplicity – great for a casual dinner dessert or to keep around the house for indulgent snacking!

Pie Crust

  • 5 1/2 cups all purpose flower
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1 pound Tenderflake lard
  • 1 tbsp vinager
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup cold water

Pie Filling

  • 8 granny smith apple peeled and sliced into small pieces
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 6 tbsp flour


Pie Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and place mini pie tins on baking sheet.

    Stir the flour and salt together. 

    Cut in the lard until the mixture is a rough oatmeal consistency. 

     In a measuring cup, combine the egg and vinegar.  Add enough cold water to make a cup.  

    Stir the liquid into the flour mixture, adding just enough to make the dough cling together.  

    Take out and combine by hand.  Roll out on lightly floured  surface.  

    Cut 8, 6 inch circles, allow to go up the sides of the pie tin.  

    Use the rest of the dough to decorative the top of the pies as you like

Pie Filling

  1. Combine sliced apples, cinnamon, and sugar in a bowl and scoop into pie crusts.

    Add decorative crust on top.

    Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 15 mins or until crust is browning, reduce to 350 degrees and continue baking for another 30 mins.
