Inexpensive DIY Wooden Bead Garland

wooden bead garland

I had many leftover wooden beads from a few of my DIY projects (see here) I completed over the holidays.  Since this DIY has three of my favourite elements – easy, inexpensive and beautiful – I needed to tackle it and of course blog about it!  ‘Tis the season to save some money post holidays, right?!  I know I’ve done a ton of DIY posts as of late, I promise to start mixing it up with interior design and fashion real soon.  In fact, I have been working on giving my son’s bedroom a much-needed refresh to add some personality since we moved in a little over a year ago.  Hang tight, it’s coming next week and thanks for your patience!

Supplies

  • Wooden beads – pick your desired size or mix it up and use a few different sizes (Michaels)
  • Twine or jute (your preference)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Start by wrapping the jute or twine around the palm of your hand about twenty times (I like a thick tassle) and cut
  2. Remove from your palm and lay as a circle on the table (or floor)
  3. Loop another piece of twine towards the top of your circle creating a small loop and tie it off (circle twine around a few times for a nice think band on the tassle and tie off)
  4. Your tassle is Done! CONGRATS!
  5. Cut a long piece of twine – cut it a little longer that your desired garland length and tie it off
  6. Start threading wooden beads on jute
  7. Once you are good with the length of the garland, create another tassle, loop it on the end and tie it off
  8. Pour a glass of wine and give yourself a pat on the back for being super awesome and completing this!
  9. Now find a vase or jar and wrap this bad boy around it!

Note: I did find the white twine easier to thread the wooded beads through, the larger the bead you use the larger the hole.
