The name of the game when it comes to my Christmas decorating this year is S-I-M-P-L-E! Which really goes against my usual tendencies. As I mentioned in my last post, I started from scratch this year with my Christmas decor after eight years of the same old, same old. So that means new colour scheme, new theme, and a breath of fresh air. I have been experimenting with doing many DIY’s to personalize our holiday decor this year. The first project that I wanted to try my hand at was my own version on a modern wreath. I used to just purchase all my holiday decor, I told myself that I don’t have any time or it won’t look as good. The truth is that it’s more affordable and usually turns out great as I can personalize it.
I enjoyed this project so much that next year I am going to plan a wreath-making workshop. Complete with wine and holiday cheer of course! Our home is looking simple but festive, brimming with fresh greenery and, bonus: it smells fantastic! I picked up a pre-made bundle of greenery from a local boutique, which was made up of various types of eucalyptus and cedar, but you can really pick up any greenery that suits your fancy.
Wreath wire frame (grabbed mine from Michael’s) – if you wanted to jazz it up I have seen a lot of people spray paint them gold, which looks great as well!
Paddle wire (green preferred) or floral tape
Utility clippers (or scissors)
Ribbon (or twine)
A few boughs of greenery of your choice
Tip: hang wreath in front of the mirror, place over a piece of artwork, fireplace mantle, or faux animal head on your wall
